Since 2001, the state of Texas has required new homes (and most remodeling projects) to meet the standards of the International Residential Code (IRC). Additionally, in 2003 the Texas Department of Insurance adopted the IRC (with Texas Revisions) as the governing code for eligibility for Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) wind and hail coverage.
In Texas' coastal counties, the IRC not only mandates stringent wind pressure ratings (Design Pressure) for windows and doors, but requires much of the region to meet rigorous standards of "impact resistance" to windbourne debris. At Walls & Windows, we carry products designed and tested for our region, and strive to recommend the best value products to protect your home, possessions, and loved ones.
Simonton Windows® meet the requirements for our coastal region, and are backed by a strong warranty from a national manufacturer.
